Get Started with Recover My Windows Password

Step 1: Create a bootable CD/DVD or USB flash drive
Download the Recover My Windows Password and save it on any computer you have access to. Unzip the downloaded file, there should be an ISO image file: RecoverMyWinPassword.iso. Burn the ISO image to a blank CD using any ISO Burning software such as BurnCDCC, or use the USB Burner program to create a bootable USB flash drive.

Step 2: Modify BIOS to boot from CD-ROM or USB flash drive
Boot your locked computer. When it is powered on, check the boot-screen for setup key (i.e. DELETE key, F8 key, F2 key) to enter BIOS Setup Utility.
Choose the BOOT menu and set Boot Device Priority option: Set the 1st Boot Device to CD/DVD-ROM if what you created is a bootable CD/DVD, or set the 1st Boot Device to Removable Device for booting from USB flash drive. Press F10 to save your changes.

Step 3: Reset forgotten Windows password
Insert the burned CD/DVD or USB flash drive on your locked computer and restart the computer. The boot loading screen should appear immediately.

Wait for a few minutes until the Recover My Windows Password appears.

Reset Windows Local Password: Select the Windows SAM database (eg. C:\Windows\system32\config\SAM), the program will automatically list all local user accounts. Select a user account and click the Reset button to reset the password to blank.
Reset Windows Domain Password (For Active Directory server only):: Select the Windows Active Directory database (eg. C:\Windows\NTDS\ntds.dit), the program will automatically list all Domain user accounts. Select a user account and click the Reset button to change the password to Password123.
Click the Restart button to reboot the computer. Now you are able to log into your computer!
